I noticed bushes randomly combust without a fire spirit is that intentional or a bug?

that is a web only bug :( we struggled so much with that bug, because of this we added a downloadable windows executable, in desktop version it shouldn't happen.

It happens, some people said that we could make an inverse mechanic: cutting plants, it was against of the whole Growth theme of the Jam, but now that we are not bound to it we'll consider so that this doesn't happen.

Your main mechanic is super interesting. I love how all your gamedesign ideas interact with each other (for eg : fire wich burn the bush but could be usefull to burn the blackberry). Sound design and particle effect really add to the juice of the game. It was fun to play fun but I think some interaction kind of broke the experience : for example, trying to recreate a bush on the side of another is kind of hard if you are just on top of it or just under it, you have to make a weird and not so easy jump for it. I also think that the generated level design (or I supposed to be so) doesn't lead ultimatly to inovant situation. I did 80 points to the game, and my main strategy was only to make a column of bush.  I think it is strongly related to the weird jump describe above.

As another comment said, I would love to see your mechanic in a more linear level-based game, I think it could lead to a great game.

Congrats for your game, you really have some good ingredient at your disposal :D

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such thoughtful feedback. To address a bit of what you said:
-Creating bushes side to side is really hard right now because we were too immersed in other parts of the game (like bugs and collision-based softlocks) and left that unfinished. However, if the game is updated that will be the first thing we'll fix: make horizontal growing easier.
-Growing a tower of bushes is certainly a game plan too good for a big part of the game, while testing it we also noticed it and tried to fix it making more level layouts (ones where it wasn't so easy to come from one column and pass the section), however it clearly wasn't enough and fixing it will be hard.
-Finally the gameplay loop of the game is a bit lacking because we were fixated on the idea of making the game an arcade experience (maybe we messed that up a bit by not putting incentives or milestones for achieving certain heights) for the Jam, the idea of a lineal-level based game was in the pool of ideas at first but was thrown out early because we didn't know at the time how was the game that we had, now that we've played it, maybe we'll consider making it linear, or at least more lineal.

Again, thanks so much for the constructive feedback, means a lot for the team.

cute and fun game

cute. i like the core mechanics. i'd really love to see a linear level-based game built around this, with different plants and ways to interact with them.
